Other efforts include the Vaccination Credential Initiative backed by Microsoft and the Mayo Clinic, which hopes to roll out its passport technology this month. At last count, 29 carriers - none from the U.S. The International Air Travel Association, advocating for about 290 airlines worldwide, is testing its IATA Travel Pass, an initiative to design and test an app to help air passengers manage travel and prove they've been vaccinated against or tested for Covid. poll released in late April showed that 1 in 5 unvaccinated people said they'll resent those who are inoculated if they don't get their shots in time for summer vacation.Ĭontroversies and concerns aside, development of vaccine passport apps continues apace. Some health experts and rights groups question the value and fairness of such documents in light of the uncertain duration of the protection vaccines afford and a lack of enough access to them in poorer nations. There's all sorts of controversy swirling around the topic of vaccine passports. Jessica Shepherd, chief medical officer at health website Verywell Health. "It is a way to easily access proof of immunization." The new EU certificates might apply to U.S. And Israel, which has the world's highest vaccination rate, requires fully immunized residents to furnish a paper or digital "Green Pass" to access public places like gyms, theaters and hotels. The European Union, on the other hand, is developing a so-called digital green certificate that would enable those among its nearly 500 million citizens who have been vaccinated or recently recovered from Covid to travel freely among the 27 member nations and avoid quarantine. "These have QR codes or other identification features that allow passport holders to securely enter restaurants, bars, concerts or other shared spaces - all depending on the regulations of the city, state or country." "So far, the vaccination passports I've seen are apps that verify a user's vaccination or negative Covid-test status," she said. The vaccine passport concept is a simple one, according to Molly Fergus, general manager of travel website TripSavvy. "Vaccine passports may prove to be very important to travel growth, but only time and consumer requirements will tell." Goldsmith apparently accepted a Prologue written by the Drury Lane Theatre actor/manager David Garrick to be performed by the actor playing Tony Lumpkin, as an official part of the original script. Too bad he died before giving us even more at which to laugh. (In 2010, we produced the delightfulWild Oats by John O’Keeffe from 1779.) Goldsmith shot a much-needed dose of realism into the dull, sentimental plays of the period and his comedy is lively, witty, and imbued with an endearing humanity. Although she disguises herself as a bar maid rather than a man to find “the cure,” Kate’s similarities to Shakespeare’s Rosalind and Viola are unmistakable, as is Goldsmith’s return to the boisterous FUN found in the long-gone Elizabethan comedies.Īudiences reacted enthusiastically to Stoops when it premiered in 1773 and have continued to do so ever since it remains one of the few 18th century plays regularly performed for modern audiences. Inhibitions of the hero and liberate him from his inability to relate to women of his own class. Goldsmith also gives us a three-dimensional throwback to Shakespeare’s comic heroines with the spunky Kate Hardcastle, who masquerades as a bar maid to circumvent the bumbling In Stoops, Miss Neville is sensible and does the exact opposite of a sentimental comedy heroine: she puts money and security first. Sentimental comedy usually involves stereotypes: the heroine is reserved and romantic, the hero is bold and brave, and romance/love reigns supreme above all else. Also, laughing comedy often spoofs and lampoons elements of sentimentalism. Goldsmith’s laughing comedy is aimed at amusing rather than at telling an audience what to feel it reveals man’s ridiculousness rather than his distresses it unmasks corruption With it, Goldsmith ushered in a new wave of humor that shunned the artificial, heightened, and cold qualities of sentimental comedy in favor of the gentle wisdom and big-hearted warmth of what he called laughing comedy. In spite of being the sole success of an almost unknown playwright, Stoops had an enduring impact on the world of comic theatre. His second play, She Stoops to Conquer (1773), became a huge hit. He drifted in and out of many professions in relative obscurity, gaining some notoriety as an essayist late in life. Oliver Goldsmith, the one-hit playwright, came along during the height of sentimental comedy in the second half of the 18th century. Marlow encounters a more simply dressed Kate and mistakes her for a barmaid.Marlow meets Kate, but is too shy and awkward to speak to her properly and he stumbles over his words. They realize Tony’s game, but they agree to pretend that Kate and Constance happen to be other guests at this “inn.” Hardcastle, unaware of Tony’s trick, is appalled by the behavior of Young Marlow. He directs them to the Hardcastle house and tells them to pay no mind to the old Landlord. Tony concocts a plot: he convinces the two gentlemen that they are lost, but that “one of the best inns in the whole county” is very close. While drinking and carousing at an inn with some friends, Tony Lumpkin meets George Hastings and Young Charles Marlow.Kate’s friend, Constance, is secretly pledged to George Hastings, who is traveling from London to the Hardcastle home with his friend, Young Charles Marlow, the man Kate’s father wishes her to marry.Hardcastle makes plans for his daughter, Kate, to meet and marry the son of his old friend, Sir Charles Marlow. Persons with sleep apnea or chronic lung disease with nocturnal hypoxia should be evaluated by a sleep specialist before sedating medications are prescribed. Sedating antihistamines, antiepileptics, and atypical antipsychotics are not recommended unless they are used primarily to treat another condition. Although the orexin receptor antagonist suvorexant appears to be relatively effective, it is no more effective than the z-drugs and much more expensive. Benzodiazepines are not recommended because of their high abuse potential and the availability of better alternatives. For those who have difficulty staying asleep, low-dose doxepin and the z-drugs should be considered. For the general population with difficulty falling asleep, controlled-release melatonin and the z-drugs can be considered. Controlled-release melatonin and doxepin are recommended as first-line agents in older adults the so-called z-drugs (zolpidem, eszopiclone, and zaleplon) should be reserved for use if the first-line agents are ineffective. Understanding the risks and benefits of insomnia medications is critical. Although behavioral interventions are the mainstay of treatment, pharmacologic therapy may be necessary for some patients. Insomnia accounts for more than 5.5 million visits to family physicians each year. 11/21/2023 0 Comments Blender 2.8 x rayWhether you have time to focus on the details for a fantastic short film, or need motion graphics for the next morning.)ģD Printing (A great way to impress everyone you know with a physical representation of your art. I have tried several different goat milk soaps, and absolutely not one of them is anywhere near being comparable to yours. Well, that was a HUGE mistake (and a mistake I will NEVER make again). After I finished my last bar of soap that I had ordered from you, I decided to see if I could find another goat milk soap closer to home to try and save myself money. I have been ordering a "bulk" order ever year/half year from you for the past few years. "I just wanted to take a minute to tell you that your soap is absolutely, truly amazing. Many other goat milk soaps are made with canned milk or powdered milk and the difference is noticeable. We also supplement their diet with extra minerals such as selenium, so they can pass all of that goodness into the milk. Our goats are fed well, with non-GMO grains. We use fresh, raw goat milk from our healthy herd of goats. So why is our goat milk soap superior? There are four main reasons. And I love what I've read about your family! It's inspirational!!!" - Victoria The Lemongrass fragrance makes me feel like I'm at a spa. NOTHING is better than GMS for their sensitive skin. All three of my kiddos have very dry skin with bouts of eczema when allergy season is in high gear. Every once in a while, I'll buy a bar of a different brand of goat milk soap at my local natural grocer, but we always come back to GMS because it's just so much better than any other soap that we've bought. "My family has been using GMS for about two years now. We often hear from our customers that they are surprised when they try someone else's bar of goat milk soap that the quality is nowhere near the quality of our soap. Our dry “winter skin” is already feeling much improved." - Holly P. The soap is so smooth and creamy, and we love it. Using the goat milk soap has completely resolved their dry skin problems. "I ordered 4 bars of Purity Goat Milk Soap on the recommendation of my daughter, whose children have occasionally had patches of eczema. And we certainly had no idea that it was going to turn into a family business that would support our family and enable us to bring Jim home full-time. We had no idea that goat milk soap was going to help people with their eczema or their psoriasis. We had no idea that the soap was going to stop the dry skin on my husband's fingertips from cracking and splitting. We did not want to use any chemical ingredients that we believe are unsafe for our children's skin and hazardous to their health. When we first started making goat milk soap for our family, our goal was very simple: we wanted to create a natural bar of soap. 11/21/2023 0 Comments Adobe audio editor withHowever, sometimes you have to do that manually. Your audio interface – what you use to record and replay your audio – might be recognized and set up automatically. Click the red ‘Record’ button and then click ‘Stop’ when you’re done! Recording in Adobe Audition: setting up your audio interface You should be familiar with the tape deck-style symbols like ‘Play,’ ‘Stop,’ ‘Rewind’ and so on. Hit ‘OK,’ then you’ll see some buttons at the bottom. Leave ‘Bit Depth’ on the default setting of ‘32 (float)’ – this is the most versatile bit depth, allowing more leeway when you edit your audio later. Mono is good for voice-only material like podcasts, while stereo is a fuller option most people would use when recording music. ‘Channels’ depends on what you’re recording. Anything lower than 44,100 might cause your audio quality to degrade. This is the standard sample rate for audio recordings you’d go even higher if you were dealing with high-fidelity music files. Name your file something memorable and set ‘Sample Rate’ to 44,100 Hz. Start your recording by hitting ‘File,’ ‘New’ and ‘Audio File’ up top. It’s worth remembering that the Waveform view is a ‘destructive working area.’ This means any changes you make to the audio are permanent, unless you remember to throw in a tactical ‘CTRL Z’ and undo your previous step. This is the single-track workview, which you’d use if you’re just working with one piece of audio. Once you open the program, you’ll see the ‘Waveform’ view. Within this new space I will have the opportunity to explore more mediums again and it is my hope to create much more work. We are finishing renovation on a new studio space at our home. I also enjoy carving the surfaces of the functional wares to add texture which when glazed creates a multi-toned color effect which enhances the works and elevates their simple status to one that is more artistic and less craft. That part of my work is where I test new ideas and use techniques from my 2 dimensional studies, like printmaking to enhance the surfaces. My functional pottery keeps my production going as I spend much of the summer selling at craft fairs. I have been back to making more sculptural work in the past year, which I enjoy as an artist with a message and voice. It is also unpredictable in results, which is something else I love about these two firing methods. Both firing techniques are focused on the additives in the fire and the nature of the fire and what happens as things burn and smolder changes the surface effects of the works in ways that are not possible with traditional glaze firing. Along with wood firing, I enjoy pit-firing my work. It is a great experience to work with a group of like minded ceramicists and learn new things together. Over the past two years I have found a guild of woodfire potters and have begun the wonderful learning experience of wood firing my work. |
